Wheaten Terrier Puppies
The Wheaten Terrier is a type of Terrier that originated in Ireland. It was originally used as an all-around farm dog whose duties included things such as hunting vermin, herding, and watching and guarding livestock. When you come across Wheaten Terrier puppies, you might be surprised at their appearance. They are not born with the wheaten color they are named after. Instead, they are born with either red, brown, white, or mahogany coats that change to white while they are puppies and then finally to the wheaten color when they reach adulthood. They have hair, not fur, which allows them to fall under the “hypoallergenic” category of dogs and they hardly shed at all.
The Wheaten Terrier is not as aggressive as some other types of Terriers because unlike the others it was not bred to primarily to be a vermin hunter. This makes it able to easily get along well with other animals, though when first introduced to them you will need to watch your Wheaten Terrier puppies to make sure their hunting instincts don’t kick in. They are very intelligent and require consistent training. They do pick up quickly on what they are supposed to do and any bad behaviors can usually be corrected within a very short amount of time.
Wheaten Terrier puppies are energetic and playful and they retain their puppy-like attitudes throughout their lifetime. They do need a fair amount of attention as well and they love to be around people, giving them an added advantage for those people who are looking for a family dog. As long as they are properly socialized, they should not have problems meeting new people or being in new situations. They are also very protective of their family as well.
These dogs do well in apartments, though it is preferable if they can have a small yard to play in. They do need a fair amount of exercise as well. A daily walk or jog should be adequate enough to meet their needs though. They also do not do very well in heat, so you might consider your areas climate and take the necessary steps to ensure the dog’s comfort before you buy Wheaten Terrier puppies.
